From 495:

  1. Go north onto CONNECTICUT AVE.
  2. Drive two miles
  3. Leaving Kensington, the roads splits, stay to the LEFT (Stay on Connecticut Avenue)
  4. Drive one mile, look for large cement wall on the left
  5. Take a big lazy U-turn onto the service road at ADAMS DR.
    (this small road parallels Connecticut Ave.)
  6. Ignore the "no outlet" sign. This road will end — take RIGHT onto SPRUELL at sign for “Rock Creek Woods”

From 270 southbound & rockville

  1. Take 270 south towards Washington
  2. Take exit at W. Montgomery Avenue, route 28
  3. Bear left to exit 6a. Go left at bottom of exit ramp. Stay alert: right lane ends once you cross the bridge over 270
  4. After about 1 or 1.5 miles or so, bear right to continue on 28 (west montgomery) at light for Falls Road.
  5. Continue straight through downtown Rockville.
  6. Follow signs for Viers Mill Road
  7. Rt. 28 turns into Veirs Mill. Cross 355 (also called Rockville Pike and/or Hungerford Road)
  8. Stay straight on Viers Mill for 6 miles. You will pass Safeway, Twinbrook Parkway, Aspen Hill Road, Parkland Road, Dunkin Doughnuts etc.
  9. Cross Randolph road and move to your right lane.
  10. Right after Ferrara, exit right (long exit ramp) to head south onto Connecticut (185 south). (Go 1/8 mile)
  11. GO RIGHT at light onto ADAMS DR.
  12. Take *IMMEDIATE LEFT* onto access road. (this small road parallels Connecticut Ave.) If you accidentally go straight on Adams, stay on it, it will loop back and “T” at the access road eventually, then make a right.
  13. Ignore the "no outlet" sign. This road will end — take RIGHT onto SPRUELL at sign for “Rock Creek Woods”

Fr0m 270 spur alternate route (
useful during rush hour)

  1. Take 270 south towards Washington
  2. At the 270 split bear LEFT towards Silver Spring and College Park (at split, right goes to Virginia and Washington - left Towards Maryland and Silver Spring) --STAY LEFT but not far left because the very far left lane becomes the HOV lane going towards Virginia.
  3. After you are on the 270 spur move into the far left lane. This will shortly become an EXIT only lane going south on 355 Towards Bethesda — take this left Exit.
  4. Now take a “U” turn at the intersection of 355 and Alta Vista/ Bellevue.
  5. Now you are heading north on 355. Go over 495 beltway. Immediately after going over beltway, merge to the right. Be careful, there will be traffic merging from the right exit ramp. The sign says “Grosvenor Lane / Beach Dr”. Take first RIGHT onto Beach Drive
  6. Go Left at the "T"
  7. Beach winds through the park. Go straight through the light at Knowles. After you go under the train bridge, take your first right onto Wexford Drive.
  8. At 2nd left (mini circle) go left onto Denfeld Ave. This winds up hill and past a school.
  9. Left on Connecticut Ave at light
  10. Take a big lazy U-turn onto the service road at ADAMS DR. (this small road parallels Connecticut Ave.)
  11. Ignore the "no outlet" sign. This road will end — take RIGHT onto SPRUELL at sign for “Rock Creek Woods”
